Project Overview

Significant upgrades were made to a Central Heating Facility’s utility infrastructure system that drives its Lynn, MA manufacturing campus. The evolving production and operations requirements support the development of the latest generation of aerospace technology. The upgrades to the facility will expand the building to accommodate three new high-pressure boilers ranging from 1200 to 2200 HP which will generate 220 PSIG of saturated steam.

The installation of new breeching will carry flue gas through openings on the east side of the facility connecting to three boiler stacks, which extend 20 feet, a total of more than 80 feet above grade. The boilers are 68 feet tall, weigh 125,000 lbs, and require 35.4 and 64.5 feet crane rigging.

The project work included a demo of the existing heating system, HVAC RTUs, and related piping, including natural gas and fuel oil.
